After earning her Certified Feline Master Groomer designation, Lauren Finn began searching for a cat-exclusive grooming position in the Metro Detroit area. What she found did not reflect the level of care, professionalism, and calm handling she believed cats deserved. Due to the fact that pet grooming is not regulated at the national or state level, many grooming facilities have no oversight. Lauren realized there was a need to create a space that upheld the standards she knew every cat deserved and every owner assumed were required in a business. That realization led her to create Cat Concierge — a refined grooming and care experience where feline comfort, safety, and individualized attention come first.

Lauren Finn is the owner of Cat Concierge, a feline-exclusive grooming and care service dedicated to providing a calm, refined, and highly personalized experience for both cats and their owners. As a Certified Feline Master Groomer (CFMG)—one of only a select few in Michigan—Lauren brings advanced training, precision, and a deep respect for feline behavior to every appointment.
Before entering the grooming industry, Lauren spent over 20 years as a Lead Medical Assistant in dermatology and pediatrics. This background gives her a strong foundation in skin health, hygiene, and attentive, compassionate care—skills that seamlessly translate into her work with cats.
Inspired in 2022 by her daughter Riley’s studies in zoology at Michigan State University, Lauren pursued her passion for feline care through the National Cat Groomers Institute. She further advanced her education through intensive, hands-on training with leading educators and earned her CFMG certification in January 2025.
Lauren is a member of both the National Cat Groomers Institute and the Association of Holistic Feline Specialists. She is currently continuing her education in feline nutrition. She also contributes a monthly nutrition column to The Furry Phoenician by “What’s The Mews” feline magazine.
Through Cat Concierge, Lauren offers private, one-on-one grooming appointments in a quiet salon suite, along with select house-call services, in-home pet sitting, and personalized feline nutrition consultations. Her approach is rooted in creating a calm, unhurried, and sanitary environment—always prioritizing the comfort, safety, and well-being of each cat.
Family Life
Family is at the heart of everything Lauren does, and Cat Concierge is deeply rooted in that foundation.
Her husband, Chris, and daughter, Riley, are Lauren’s biggest supporters, and when she is not working, spending time with them is where she most wants to be. Chris is also a cat lover and a talented musician who sings and plays guitar and keys for Planet of Fun.
Riley recently graduated from MSU with a zoology degree and hopes to work in cheetah conservation. She is also interested in feline grooming and assists Lauren at times. She is considering pursuing the NCGI program as well.
Their home is shared with nine cats, ranging in age from 3 to 19. Life at home is centered around them, and some of their favorite moments are the simplest—spending time together, traveling, and taking road trips as a family. In the summer, they make it a tradition to visit Mackinac Island several times each year, which has truly become their home away from home. Lauren also grooms many of the cats on Mackinac Island during the summer.
At the center of it all is a shared love of animals, music, and time spent together—values that naturally carry over into the care and intention behind Cat Concierge.

What makes Cat Concierge different from other groomers?
Cat Concierge is a feline-exclusive grooming business, which means every service is designed specifically for cats. Lauren provides one-on-one care in a calm, unhurried setting and works according to each cat’s temperament and comfort level. With Certified Feline Master Groomer credentials and advanced education in feline handling, coat care, anatomy, and behavior, Cat Concierge offers a more specialized experience than a general pet groomer.
What causes matting?
Greasy skin and coat combined with natural shedding causes matting. And once a small tangle or mat forms, it grows very quickly. The only real defense against tangles and mats is regular bathing and drying done by a professional cat groomer who truly knows what they are doing. Some groomers are not cat groomers and will groom a cat using products and techniques that can cause more problems. Make sure your cat groomer is certified through the National Cat Groomers Institute of America, inc, the only cat grooming association that offers effective, quality training for cat grooming certification.
Do cats like getting a bath?
Contrary to popular belief, most cats do not mind being bathed. In fact, many are very calm during the bathing process and seem to find it relaxing. We use special techniques to introduce a cat to the bathing process each time, until we can see that they are used to it. We know from experience that cat owners report they have a very happy cat after it returns home from a day at the spa.
How do you dry the cats?
We use the Catty Shack Vac patented drying system designed specifically for cats. In fact, we are one of the only grooming salons in Metro Detroit that uses the Catty Shack Vac, which means we can offer the most efficient drying process and produce the highest quality groom in the end.
Will you sedate my cat?
We do not sedate cats. In reality, very few cats truly do need any sort of sedative in order to be groomed. We handle each cat in such a way that the need for drugs of any kind rarely happens. If we do think your cat would best be served by receiving medication, we will refer you to your veterinarian for a mild sedative that can be administered prior to the grooming appointment.
Will it hurt my cat to be groomed?
It can hurt your cat to NOT be groomed. Cats that are not groomed are prone to serious matting problems, skin conditions, painful ingrown nails, and a variety of other problems that, if left unattended, can cause irreversible damage or even death.
A cat that is groomed regularly (approximately every 6 weeks) will not suffer from such problems. Because the groomer is handling the cat on a regular basis and looking over every inch of its body during each visit, health issues that may arise can be found early on, and the likelihood of effective intervention is increased.
How long will it take for you to groom my cat?
We typically allow 2 hours for your appointment if you have only one cat. If you bring in two or more, or the cat is severely pelted or matted, the groom time may take longer. Once we see your cat/cats in person, we will be able to give you a time for pick-up. We believe cats are better served by not being away from their normal home environment any longer than possible, and therefore strive to complete each groom in an efficient and timely manner.
How often should my cat be groomed?
Most cats need to be professionally groomed every 4-8 weeks depending on the individual coat.
Can you groom my cat if he is aggressive?
Most of the time we can. We can usually tell when we initially see your cat in person whether or not it can be safely handled.
Can you groom my cat if I have tried other salons and they have turned him away?
Yes, that is our specialty.
What are the benefits to having my cat professionally groomed?
The main benefit is having a happier, healthier cat that does not suffer from any of the painful and potentially life-threatening problems already mentioned. In addition, you will benefit as regular grooming cuts down on shedding, eliminates hairballs, reduces allergy problems, and helps promote a cleaner environment as well as a cleaner cat. And the best part is, you don’t have to do any of the grooming yourself! Leave that up to us!
